Week 9 – Pendulum Sweep, Arm Bars, and Ground Technique

Published on

4 min read

This week we are working on closed guard techniques and transitions to closed guard.

In our fundamentals class, we will be working on blocking punches in the turtle position and recovering guard position. We will also show the Pendulum Sweep and Straight Arm Bar from closed guard. In Class B we will teach how to recover to closed guard when an opponent has the knee on belly position.

In the Gracie Barra Kids program, we are working on an escape, as well as more guard positions and transitions. The word of the week is Integrity: the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.

In our advanced class, we will be focusing on sacrifice throws, nuanced transitions to the guard position, guard submissions, and ground technique.
