Week 7 – Mastering Leg Grabs and Guard Passing

Welcome back, Gracie Barra family! As we dive into Week 7 of our curriculum, we’re gearing up for another week of growth, learning, and of course, Jiu Jitsu fun! Here’s a sneak peek into what’s in store for our classes:

Tiny Champions & Little Champions 1:

  • In Class A, our youngest warriors will focus on mastering wrist grab escapes.
  • In Class B, they’ll be honing their single leg takedown skills without grips. On the ground, they’ll be perfecting their posture and guard opening techniques throughout the week.

Little Champions 2 & Juniors:

  • Class A will be learning wrist grab escapes.
  • Class B adds single leg takedowns without grips to their arsenal. Professor will guide them through guard passing techniques on the ground.

Fundamentals Class:

  • Class A adults will delve into self-defense techniques, including distance management, push kicks, and body lock takedowns. On the ground, they’ll work on guard passing and navigating half guard using hooks.
  • In Class B, self-defense will focus on distance management and double leg takedowns, with an emphasis on passing spider guard during ground technique sessions.

All Levels & Advanced Classes:

Leg grabs and ground techniques chosen by the professor will be the focus for both levels. Specific training and drills will wrap up each session, ensuring students leave the mats feeling challenged and accomplished.

This week, we’re emphasizing the importance of mindset in Jiu Jitsu. Your mindset shapes your approach to training, your resilience in the face of challenges, and your ability to learn and grow on and off the mats. Whether it’s staying focused during a roll or maintaining a positive attitude through adversity, cultivating a strong mindset is essential to success in Jiu Jitsu and in life. Let’s embody the warrior mindset as we tackle this week’s training together!
