Week 7! Ground strike, leg grabs and passing the guard!

Welcome back to another exciting week of Gracie Barra training! We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve reached the midway point of the GB Curriculum once again. In Week 7, we have an array of techniques and skills lined up for you to enhance your Jiu-Jitsu journey.

For GBK Classes (LC I & II / Juniors):

We’re kicking off with a focus on wrist grab escapes and guard passes, providing essential self-defense skills. Additionally, we’ll delve into the details of guard retention from the bottom position and breaking the guard from the top, ensuring a well-rounded skill set.

GB All-Levels Program:

In this program, we’re introducing the double leg turning the corner technique. As we transition to sport jiu-jitsu, you’ll learn the art of breaking the guard with an over-the-leg pass. Dive deeper into guard passing skills through detailed training exercises. Our experienced instructors will also showcase a couple of effective submissions from the top mount, adding depth to your arsenal.

GB1 Fundamentals:

Week 7 brings a special focus on distance management, a critical aspect of Jiu-Jitsu. Explore the nuances of executing a body lock takedown to secure side control. In the sport jiu-jitsu segment, our emphasis will be on opening the guard and mastering passes to side control. Transition seamlessly from guard position to side control, and then to mount with the GB1 drill. Cap off the session with specific training sessions and live rolls, where you can put your skills to the test.

GB2 Advanced Classes:

For our advanced practitioners, Week 7 is an opportunity to dive into advanced techniques. Explore the art of leg grabs at an advanced level and master the double leg takedown with an inside hook trip. We’ll also tackle the spider guard pass, a high-level skill that requires finesse. Additionally, our seasoned professors will demonstrate a lasso guard pass with a knee slide and a single leg takedown from an arm drag, adding sophistication to your Jiu-Jitsu repertoire. Finish off the class with specific training exercises to refine your newfound skills.
