Gracie Barra Centennial Weekly Update | No-Gi Week, Week 6 Curriculum & Jiu-Jitsu at the Park
Welcome to another exciting week at Gracie Barra Centennial! This week we’re continuing to help our students become stronger, more confident, and better than yesterday. From No-Gi Week to our Week 6 curriculum and an upcoming community event, there’s plenty happening on and off the mats.
No-Gi Week
This week is No-Gi Week at Gracie Barra Centennial.
Please remember to arrive in approved No-Gi training attire for all classes. No-Gi training gives students the opportunity to improve movement, timing, body control, and adaptability while learning techniques that complement their traditional Gi training.
If you have questions about approved No-Gi gear, our team is happy to help.
Friday Schedule Update
Beginning this Friday and continuing through the end of June, our Friday schedule will be:
- 6:00 AM – Adult No-Gi Class
- 5:05 PM – Kids Class (Ages 7–13)
Please note that there will be no Friday evening Adult classes during this period.
Starting in July
Beginning in July, our Friday schedule will change again:
- The 6:00 AM Adult No-Gi Class will continue every Friday.
- All other Friday classes will be discontinued.
We appreciate everyone’s flexibility as we make these adjustments to better serve our students and families.
Word of the Week: Kindness
Definition: Kindness means treating others with care, respect, and compassion.
At Gracie Barra Centennial, kindness is one of the values we strive to demonstrate every day. In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kindness means helping teammates improve, encouraging one another during training, and being a safe and respectful training partner.
These simple actions build a stronger academy culture while teaching lessons that extend far beyond the mats into school, work, and everyday life.
Week 6 Curriculum
This week students across our programs will be working on:
Tiny Champions, Little Champs & Juniors
- Headlocks
- Hand and hip throws
- Back and turtle positions
Adult Programs
Students will continue developing these same core concepts while adding additional technical details, positional control, and live application during training.
Consistent practice helps students improve confidence, problem-solving skills, and technical understanding week after week.
