Word of the Week: Kindness

At Gracie Barra Centennial, Jiu-Jitsu is more than a martial art—it’s a way of life rooted in discipline, respect, and personal growth. During Week 6 of the Gracie Barra curriculum, our focus is on headlock escapes, hip/hand throws, and transitions to turtle and back control.

These techniques teach students how to stay calm under pressure and respond with skill, not panic. It’s a powerful week of progress—especially when paired with this week’s mindset theme: Kindness.

Why Kindness Matters in Jiu-Jitsu

In Jiu-Jitsu, kindness means:

  • Being a respectful and safe training partner

  • Helping newer students without ego

  • Practicing patience as we all grow together

✅ Kindness builds trust
✅ Kindness strengthens teams
✅ Kindness helps you train better
