Week 5 – Standing Strike, Transitions to Guard, & Sacrifice Throws

Published on

4 min read

Gracie Barra’s Week 5 Curriculum covers quite a few techniques!

Our GBK LC I / II & Juniors classes will help students better understand distance control and body lock techniques at the beginning of the week. Later in the week, the students will work on a ‘Sit-Up’ Sweep, one-hand shoulder throw, and a headlock escape! Be sure to bring in your son or daughter to help them prepare themselves for a situation where they have to defend themselves!

Our GB1 Fundamentals Classes will also spend a little amount of time on distance control, before learning one of the most used submissions in Jiu-Jitsu, the armbar! Additionally, our Professors will show the Waiter sweep, and a drill that involves the pull feet sweep, mount, and mount escape.

The GB2 Advanced classes will cover a sacrifice throw with inside hook, pulling spider guard, a triple attack from spider guard, and finally, a spider sweep finishing with a leg drag. The Professor will give unique input on each position and technique.

We look forward to seeing you on the mats!
