Week 5 – Standing Strike, Transitions to Guard, & Sacrifice Throws

Published on

4 min read

Gracie Barra’s Week 5 Curriculum covers quite a few techniques!

Our GBK program will help students better understand distance control and body lock techniques at the beginning of the week. Later in the week, the kids will work on a ‘Sit-Up’ Sweep, one-hand shoulder throw, and a headlock escape! Be sure to bring in your son or daughter to help them prepare themselves for a situation where they have to defend themselves!

Our GB1 Fundamentals Classes will also spend a little amount of time on distance control, before learning one of the most used submissions in Jiu-Jitsu, the armbar! Additionally, our Professors will show the Waiter sweep, and a drill the involves the pull feet sweep, mount, and mount escape.

The GB2 Advanced classes will cover a sacrifice throw with inside hook, pulling spider guard, a triple attack from spider guard, and finally, a spider sweep finishing with a leg drag. The Professor will give unique input on each position and technique.

We look forward to seeing you on the mats!
