Week 5! Standing Strike, Sacrifice Throws and Bottom Guard

Welcome to Gracie Barra! Our Week 5 Curriculum is jam-packed with exciting techniques and training sessions for all levels. Let’s dive into what each program has to offer.

In our GBK Program, we’ll kick off the week by focusing on distance control and mastering body lock techniques. As the week progresses, our students will have the opportunity to learn valuable jiu-jitsu skills, including the ‘Sit-Up’ Sweep, a one-hand shoulder throw, and effective headlock escapes. We invite parents to bring their sons and daughters to these classes, as they provide essential tools for self-defense and personal safety.

Moving on to our GB1 Fundamentals Classes, we’ll dedicate some time to work on distance control skills. Students will then delve into one of the most fundamental and frequently used submissions in Jiu-Jitsu—the armbar. Additionally, our instructors will introduce a dynamic drill that combines the pull feet sweep, mount, and mount escape techniques. These classes provide a solid foundation for beginners and a chance to refine essential skills for more experienced practitioners.

For our GB2 Advanced classes, we have an exciting lineup of techniques. Students will explore transitions to the guard or sacrifice throws and master the art of pulling into spider guard. To conclude the class, our knowledgeable professor will guide students through a spider sweep finishing with a leg drag. The advanced class offers a challenging yet rewarding experience for practitioners looking to take their skills to the next level.
