Welcome to Week 5 of the Gracie Barra Curriculum! We have an exciting week ahead, packed with techniques and drills designed to enhance your self-defense skills and takedown proficiency. Here’s what’s in store:
Tiny Champions (3-4 years old) and Little Champions 1:
In Class A, our youngest students will focus on maintaining distance, covering their heads, and executing a body lock clinch to take the back. For Class B, they will learn the one-hand shoulder throw. Throughout the week, they’ll work on the sit-up sweep from the bottom guard, setting a strong foundation for their future Jiu-Jitsu skills.
Little Champions 2 and Juniors:
Class A will have these students mastering the escape from headlocks using roll reversal techniques. In Class B, they’ll practice the one-hand shoulder throw on the knees. Additionally, Professor will demonstrate how to sweep and submit from the bottom guard, enhancing their ground technique arsenal.
Fundamentals Class A (Adults):
Adults in Fundamentals Class A will work on self-defense techniques such as blocking punches from the closed guard, managing distance, controlling the arms, and transitioning to an armbar. For ground techniques, they will focus on the pull feet sweep when the opponent stands up from the closed guard and the waiter sweep, adding effective strategies to their skill set.
Fundamentals Class B (Adults):
Class B will cover blocking punches from the closed guard, managing distance, and executing an up kick to a technical lift. Ground techniques will include the tripod sweep and the outside hook sweep when the opponent defends the tripod sweep. These techniques will enhance their ability to control and dominate from the ground.
All Levels Class and Advanced:
This week, we’ll be diving into leg grabs and ground techniques chosen by the professor. Each class will conclude with specific training and drills, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in a practical setting.
🗣️Word of the Week: Strength
Strength in Jiu-Jitsu is not just physical; it encompasses mental and emotional resilience. It’s about enduring, adapting, and overcoming challenges both on and off the mat. Embracing this strength helps you grow as a martial artist and as an individual.
We look forward to another week of growth and learning. See you on the mats!
