Welcome to Week 3 of the Gracie Barra Curriculum! We have a fantastic week ahead with a variety of techniques and skills to master. Here’s what each class will be focusing on:
Tiny Champions (3-4 years old) and Little Champions 1
Our Tiny Champions (3-4 years old) and Little Champions 1 will focus on vital self-defense moves. In Class A, they’ll learn how to perform a break fall if pushed and create distance using their feet on the opponent’s hips. They’ll practice pushing away, executing a technical lift, and finishing with a safe stance. Class B will introduce the foot sweep, a fundamental takedown technique. For ground techniques, they’ll work on opening the guard by pushing the knee, stepping over the leg, and finishing in the mount position. These skills are essential for their foundational Jiu-Jitsu development.
Little Champions 2 and Juniors:
For Little Champions 2 and Juniors, Class A will teach them to manage distance effectively, cover their heads from punches, and execute a body lock followed by either a takedown or a back take. In Class B, they’ll focus on the body lock outside hook takedown, a versatile move for gaining control. On the ground, they’ll learn how to pass the guard, an important skill for advancing positions and controlling the match.
Fundamentals Adults Class:
Our Fundamentals Class A for adults has a comprehensive self-defense curriculum this week. Students will learn to slip a jab and transition into a double leg takedown. They’ll also focus on maintaining a safe posture, opening the guard on the knees with elbows closed, and performing a guard pass with one arm under the leg. In Class B, they’ll work on the cross punch slip to single leg takedown, seamlessly blending striking defense with effective grappling. The ground technique of the week is the knee slide guard pass, a crucial move for advancing positions.
All Levels Adults Class:
All Levels Class and Advanced students will focus on leg grabs and a ground technique chosen by the professor. Each class will wrap up with specific training and drills to reinforce the techniques learned.
🗣️Word of the Week: Integrity
Integrity is a core value in Jiu-Jitsu and life. It means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. On the mats, integrity manifests in training honestly, respecting your partners, and committing to continuous improvement. Off the mats, it translates to living with honor, being truthful, and maintaining strong moral principles. Embracing integrity helps us grow as individuals and strengthens our Jiu-Jitsu community.
Let’s have a fantastic week of training, learning, and growing together!
See you on the mats!
