Week 2 – Headlocks, Hip Throws, and Sidemount

Published on

4 min read

In the GB1 Curriculum, the class will start with an escape from standing headlocks, rear takedown, technical mount, and armbars. After headlocks, our focus will shift toward escaping from side-mount into closed guard. The drill this week includes an over-the-leg guard pass.

In our Advanced class, we will start with a stand-up technique. Our Professors will decide between a hip throw or a hand throw. We will finish with our ground technique surrounding side control.

In the Gracie Barra Kid’s program, we will work on push defense, keeping a strong base, and technical lifts. After the self-defense portion, the kids will work on a ground technique as well. The ground technique this week is a side-mount escape.

We hope to see you on the mats!
