Week 15

Published on

4 min read

At Gracie Barra Centennial, Jiu-Jitsu is more than just technique—it’s about the team you build along the way. In Week 15, we’re focused on refining our guard top strategies and takedowns while remembering the importance of working together and supporting one another on the mats.

🗣 Word of the Week: TEAM

Jiu-Jitsu is an individual journey—but no one walks it alone. Whether you’re drilling with a partner, sparring with a teammate, or showing up to class consistently—your team helps shape your progress.

Being part of a team means:
✅ Encouraging each other
✅ Training with respect
✅ Celebrating wins together
✅ Growing through challenges side by side

When one of us improves, we all do.

🥋 Tiny Champions & Little Champions 1

📍 Focus: Leg grabs & falling safely

  • Self-Defense: Break fall variations

  • Ground Technique: One-arm under guard pass

  • Specific Training: Guard top

Little ones work on staying safe, building balance, and recognizing movement patterns.

🥋 Little Champions 2

📍 Focus: Confidence in guard passing

  • Self-Defense: Headlock escape – catch the head

  • Stand-Up: Single leg takedown with grips

  • Ground Technique: Guard top + guard pass

  • Specific Training: Guard top

Kids strengthen takedown entries and transitions to dominant positions.

  • Self-Defense: Block high round kick → hip throw → elbow strike

  • Sport Jiu-Jitsu:

    • Open guard standing

    • Knee slide pass

  • GB1 Drill: Guard open → pass → side mount → mount

  • GB1 Talking Point: The GB Legacy

You’ll learn to close distance, pass guard with control, and maintain strong positional dominance.

🥋 Adults All Levels (GB2)

📍 Focus: Creative guard passing sequences

  • Self-Defense: Defend high round kick → inside hook takedown → footlock

  • Sport Jiu-Jitsu:

    • Leg drag

    • Two arms under pass

  • GB1 Drill: Leg control → pass → side mount

  • GB1 Talking Point: The GB Training Etiquette

Upper-level students will work guard breaks and passing chains with precision.
