Welcome to Week 15 of the exciting and action-packed Gracie Barra Curriculum! Get ready for an incredible week filled with a variety of techniques and skills to enhance your Jiu-Jitsu journey.
For our Tiny Champs and Little Champs I, safety is our priority. They will delve into learning break fall variations, enabling them to master the safest ways to break their fall when needed. Additionally, they will explore a 1-arm-under pass, a technique that will enhance their control and dominance on the ground. Furthermore, they will be introduced to the art of executing a Single Leg Takedown with Grips, adding a powerful offensive maneuver to their arsenal.
Meanwhile, in the Little Champs II and Juniors classes, the focus will be on honing their skills with another essential Headlock escape. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to dive into the same moves taught to Tiny Champs and Little Champs I, solidifying their understanding and application of these fundamental techniques.
For our dedicated GB1 Fundamentals Class A students, they will be working on defense techniques this week. They will learn effective methods to block a front kick and an elbow, crucial for maintaining distance and protecting themselves during a fight. To enhance their ground game, they will also be taught how to Open the Guard standing and perform a Leg Drag Guard Pass, which will grant them smoother transitions and control while passing their opponent’s guard. The Class A drill will revolve around perfecting the guard pass technique, ensuring they grasp the finer details of this essential move. Throughout the week, their focus will be on improving their guard game, which is a crucial aspect of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
On the other hand, Class B Fundamentals will be delving into a different set of skills. They will not only learn additional methods of blocking strikes but also explore a different Guard Passing technique, allowing them to adapt their approach to various situations. The drills in Class B will be designed to reinforce and strengthen their guard passing skills. Specific training will wrap up the classes, providing a chance for students to apply what they’ve learned in a more dynamic and interactive setting.
Our GB All-Levels classes will bring some advanced techniques to the table. Students will be introduced to the art of Single Leg Takedown Defense, a crucial skill in thwarting opponents’ takedown attempts and maintaining their balance and control during intense matches. Additionally, they will dive into a Guard pass standing with a cross grip, providing them with a powerful method of passing an opponent’s guard. Lastly, All-Levels students will learn an effective Guard Pass to Knee on Belly position, which is an advantageous position for controlling and dominating an opponent on the ground.
As we approach the end of this 16-Week curriculum, remember that each class brings you one step closer to mastering the art of Jiu-Jitsu. Keep pushing yourself and attend classes regularly to continue progressing in your Jiu-Jitsu Journey.
