Week 12! Clinch&Holds, foot throws and taking the back!

Welcome to our weekly blog update, where we unveil the exciting curriculum planned for each of our classes. Regardless of your skill level – whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced student – we have engaging techniques lined up just for you. Let’s take a closer look at what’s in store this week!

GB1 Class:
In our GB1 class, we’re focusing on fundamental techniques and escapes. We kick off the session by mastering the art of escaping from a front bear hug – a crucial skill for self-defense situations. Once we’ve honed this escape, we progress to learning how to take the back from the turtle position, a key move for gaining dominance over an opponent. To reinforce our learning, this week’s drill includes practicing clock chokes, side-mount control, and transitioning to mount from side control. These exercises are tailored to enhance our ground control and submission skills.

Advanced Class:
Our advanced class zeroes in on stand-up techniques and throws. We’ll delve into foot and leg throws, highly effective for takedowns and gaining advantageous positions. After mastering our stand-up game, we shift our attention to recovering guard from the turtle position – a crucial skill for maintaining control and defending against opponents. To cap off the class, we engage in specific training exercises chosen by our experienced professor. This segment allows us to apply our skills in practical scenarios, refining our techniques further.

GB Kids Class:
In our GB Kids class, safety is paramount. We focus on self-defense skills and age-appropriate techniques. Our young students will learn to escape from a standing rear choke, empowering them with self-defense tools if ever needed. Building on this foundation, we explore techniques for taking the back of an opponent from the turtle position. These skills enhance their positional awareness and provide an advantage in grappling situations. The class wraps up with enjoyable yet challenging specific training exercises, ensuring our young learners remain engaged and enthusiastic about their BJJ journey.
