We’re kicking off Week #1 of the Gracie Barra Curriculum, which will take us back to the fundamentals and allow us to start anew in our quest to become the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners we can be! You can stay updated on our weekly curriculum by visiting our website or following us on Instagram (@gbcentennial72).
During Week #1, GB Fundamentals students will learn essential skills such as recovering guard from bottom side-control, pulling guard from a standing position, and the scissor sweep. The drill for GB1 classes will involve a flow working through the guard pull and scissor sweep with a partner. Later in the week, students will focus on escaping mount, executing an X choke from closed guard, and continuing to work on the guard pull from a standing position. Specific training will be done from the closed guard position.
For GBK Juniors and Little Champs II, the focus will be on distance management, a foot sweep, and a guard position, with the instructor choosing the sweep for the week.
As for GBK Tiny Champs and Little Champs I, they will learn how to use their Judo grips to off-balance opponents, as well as guard control with collar grips.
Let’s dedicate this week to self-improvement and progress in our practice of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We look forward to seeing all of you on the mats!
