Welcome to Week 1 of the Gracie Barra curriculum cycle! At Gracie Barra Centennial, we believe every restart is a chance to improve. Whether you’re returning to basics or taking your first steps in Jiu-Jitsu, this week we’re emphasizing sharp technique, strong fundamentals, and mutual respect on and off the mats.

🗣 Word of the Week: RESPECT

In Jiu-Jitsu, respect is essential—from bowing before you roll to giving your training partners your best effort.
We teach our students to:
✅ Respect their teammates and coaches
✅ Respect their own learning pace
✅ Respect the art and values of Jiu-Jitsu

Respect builds trust, humility, and long-term growth.

🥋 Tiny Champions & Little Champions 1

📍 Focus: Safety & Guard Control

  • Self-Defense: Body language, distance management, and verbal commands

  • Ground Technique: Locking feet + collar control from guard

  • Specific Training: Guard bottom

These young students learn how to set physical boundaries and stay calm under pressure.

🥋 Little Champions 2

📍 Focus: Guard attacks and balance drills

  • Self-Defense: Body language + verbal commands

  • Stand-Up: Judo grips + 4-way off-balancing drill

  • Ground Technique: Sweeps + submissions from guard

  • Specific Training: Guard bottom

We’re building reflexes, awareness, and confidence on the ground.

🥋 Adults Fundamentals (GB1)

📍 Focus: Closed guard transitions and sweeps

  • Self-Defense: Escape side mount with punches → recover guard → technical lift

  • Sport Jiu-Jitsu:

    • Pulling to closed guard

    • Scissor sweep

  • GB1 Drill: Pull to closed guard → scissor sweep

  • GB1 Talking Point: Jiu-Jitsu for Everyone

A solid guard gives you the power to defend and attack intelligently.

🥋 Adults All Levels (GB2)

📍 Focus: Advanced guard work & sacrifice throws

  • Stand-Up Technique: Transitions to guard or sacrifice throws

  • Ground Technique: Guard bottom (sweeps/submissions)

  • Specific Training: Guard chaining

You’ll refine how to bait, trap, and counter from bottom positions.

🎯 BJJ Focus Sessions (30 mins)

This week’s extra training targets:
✔️ Sacrifice throws
✔️ Submissions and sweeps from bottom guard

Get more reps and gain deeper understanding through short, focused work.

🌸  Women’s Self-Defense – Tuesday @ 6 PM

This week we’re covering:
✨ Escaping mount with punches
✨ Bridge and recover posture from closed guard
✨ Sweeps from bottom guard

No experience needed—just bring your determination! Every woman is welcome.

New cycle. New goals. Same commitment to excellence.
