Week 10: Mount & Knee on Belly + Training with Gratitude
Word of the Week: Gratitude
Gratitude is more than saying “thank you.” In Jiu-Jitsu, it’s about how we show respect to our partners, our coaches, and ourselves. When we step on the mats, we have a chance to grow—physically, mentally, and emotionally. By training with gratitude, we focus on the opportunity in every drill, every roll, and every challenge.
This week, take a moment before class to notice what you’re thankful for. It could be a teammate who pushes you, the progress you’ve made, or the simple joy of training.

Why Gratitude Makes You a Better Martial Artist
Gratitude keeps you grounded. It reminds you to focus on learning instead of just winning. Because of it, you value your training partners and protect their safety. You also become more coachable, since you respect the time and effort your professors put into every class.
When we combine skill with gratitude, our progress becomes faster—and our community grows stronger.
