The Manitou Incline climbs 2,744 steps over a distance of just 0.9 miles, with an elevation gain of over 2,000 feet, making it one of the toughest hikes in the country. By completing it, you’ll have a sense of accomplishment and pride that you can take back to the gym.
To prepare properly, wear sturdy hiking shoes with good grip, bring plenty of water and snacks, and dress in layers to adjust for changing temperatures as you climb. As you begin your ascent, you’ll quickly realize why the Manitou Incline is such a popular destination for hikers and fitness enthusiasts.
Motivate each other and practice positive self-talk to keep pushing forward. The camaraderie and teamwork that you’ve developed in your jiu jitsu training will come in handy on this hike as you encourage each other and share tips for tackling the toughest sections.
Once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Pikes Peak and the surrounding area. This unforgettable experience will challenge you physically and mentally, and bring you closer together as a team.
