At Gracie Barra Centennial, every week we anchor our training around a Word of the Week — a single value that shapes how we move, how we partner up, and how we live. For Week 15, that word is integrity. Whether you train with us from Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, Littleton, Greenwood Village, Parker, or Englewood, integrity isn’t a slogan we paint on a wall. It’s the standard we hold each other to every time we step on the mats at our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school in Centennial, Colorado.
This post covers what integrity means in our training, the Week 15 curriculum, upcoming events you should have on your calendar, and how to get started with a free intro class.

What Integrity Means at Gracie Barra Centennial
Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, integrity shows up in small moments that add up to the kind of student — and the kind of person — you become. It looks like:
- Being honest in your training and tapping early when a submission is locked in
- Taking responsibility for your actions, on the mats and off
- Staying committed to doing your best when class is hard, when you’re tired, and when you’d rather quit
- Being a good training partner — one who works with their teammate, not against them
- Following instructions from your professor and coaches even when no one is checking
This ties directly into our Better Than Yesterday philosophy. We’re not chasing perfect. We’re chasing one step forward, taken honestly. Integrity is what makes that progress real. At Gracie Barra Centennial, we believe integrity builds trust, strong character, and long-term success — in Jiu-Jitsu and in life.
Week 15 Curriculum
This week our students are working on three core areas:
- Ground strikes — understanding how striking changes the game on the ground, and how Jiu-Jitsu controls and neutralizes it
- Leg grabs — takedown defense and offense from leg attacks
- Guard positions and control — building a strong, intelligent guard that gives you options against any opponent
These techniques are taught through the Gracie Barra Curriculum, the same structured system used at over 900 Gracie Barra schools worldwide. Students at our Centennial location train the same proven progression that has produced world champions and lifelong practitioners for decades.
Kids Friends & Family Class — Saturday, May 9

We’re inviting every kid student to bring a friend or family member onto the mats with them on May 9 for a fun, beginner-friendly class.
- Open to all experience levels
- No prior training needed
- A great way to introduce someone to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
If you’ve been telling a friend in Parker, Lone Tree, or Highlands Ranch that they should give Jiu-Jitsu a try, this is the class to bring them to. We encourage every kids student to bring someone with them. Reservere your class on Zenplanner – Open to Everyone
