Embarking on Week 1: A Fresh Start in Our Jiu-Jitsu Journey!

Welcome back, Gracie Barra Centennial community! We’re thrilled to kick off Week #1 of the Gracie Barra Curriculum, a journey back to the fundamentals that sets the stage for our continuous evolution in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu excellence. Stay in the loop with our weekly curriculum updates on our Instagram (@gbcentennial72).

For GB Fundamentals students, this week is all about honing essential skills, including how to pull to the guard, and mastering the art of the scissor sweep. Dive into partner drills focused on the guard pull and scissor sweep flow. Later in the week, shift your focus to perfecting the X choke from closed guard, and refining the standing guard pull. Specific training sessions will revolve around the closed guard position.

GBK Juniors and Little Champs II will delve into distance management, a foot sweep, and guard position, with the instructor selecting the sweep of the week.

Tiny Champs and Little Champs I in GBK will explore the strategic use of Judo grips to off-balance opponents and gain guard control with collar grips.

🗣️ Word of the Week: Leadership
This week, we embrace the concept of “Leadership.” In Jiu-Jitsu, leadership extends beyond techniques—it thrives in the humility to learn, the strength to encourage, and the dedication to the collective improvement of the entire team. Embody the mindset of a true Jiu-Jitsu leader on and off the mats.

Let’s dedicate this week to self-improvement and progress in our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey. We can’t wait to see each and every one of you on the mats, ready to learn, grow, and lead together!
