Week 4 at Gracie Barra Centennial: Confidence on and off the Mats

This week at Gracie Barra Centennial, we’re diving into Week 4 of our curriculum — and our Word of the Week is Confidence. Every class this week is designed to help students believe in themselves, trust their technique, and step forward with the courage to take on challenges both in Jiu-Jitsu and in life.

Confidence is built through consistency. Every time a student shows up, tries something new, or overcomes a tough moment on the mats, they strengthen not just their body but their mindset. Confidence isn’t about being perfect — it’s about trusting the process and celebrating progress.

🔴 GB1 (Adults Fundamentals)

Self-Defense: Double lapel grab escape with outside hook takedown + straight armbar
Sport Jiu-Jitsu: Mount position + knee on belly transitions

This week’s GB1 curriculum focuses on posture, control, and the ability to maintain dominance through smart transitions. These techniques build the confidence needed to stay calm and composed during live training.

⚫ GB2 (Adults Advanced)

Technique Focus: Foot throws + knee on belly

Our GB2 students are sharpening their stand-up and ground transitions with foot throws that demand precision and balance. These movements develop a confident flow that translates into stronger performance in both self-defense and competition.

🔵 Tiny Champions (Ages 3–6)

Focus: Distance management + head cover block + push

Our youngest champions are learning the fundamentals of personal safety and boundary-setting. By practicing how to protect themselves and use their voice confidently, they’re growing both their coordination and self-assurance.

🟠 Little Champions 1 (Ages 7–9)

Focus: Mount control + knee on belly + instructor’s choice escapes

This week reinforces control and balance in dominant positions. By learning how to stay steady and apply technique with confidence, students gain a deeper sense of security on the mats.

🟡 Little Champions 2 (Ages 10–12)

Focus: Roundhouse kick defense + double-leg takedown + mount control + knee on belly

Little Champs 2 are developing confidence in both standing and ground positions. These drills help them feel capable and ready — whether in class, at school, or anywhere life takes them.

💬 Word of the Week: Confidence

At Gracie Barra Centennial, confidence comes from action — showing up, trying again, and learning to trust yourself. Every belt, every class, and every challenge is an opportunity to grow. Confidence isn’t given; it’s earned through effort, perseverance, and teamwork.
